As we involuntarily descend into strange times led by a small group that seek to divide and distract us from caring about others, this installation project by Joey Bruni calls out for community and calls in like-minded individuals to gather and get organized.
Constructed out of bird houses originally built by Alex Bowron for an art school project long ago, Birds of a Feather reminds us that communities are the way forward. Having a safe space to be ourselves is not only essential but life-saving, and facing the challenges ahead together is an important way to counter the division being spun by the predator class.

Owl Ridge Acres is proud to house Birds of a Feather as part of our permanent collection in perfect timing to announce our reopening in 2026 with new opportunities and learning experiences to foster a reconnection with nature. Guided agricultural residencies will allow those with an interest in getting their hands dirty the physical education experience of creating and growing gardens. Community food security will become even more important as our climate destabilizes, so we are looking for fellow queer and ally green thumbs to get OUT here and learn with us.
